She is our new family member and we love her.
Kakan is fast like lightning and has energy for ten!
She almost never barks and likes cats.
We got her through our neighbours &
it almost feels like a match made in heaven 🙂

Our cat was bitten by a viper (snake)! He came ho

Our cat was bitten by a viper (snake)!
He came home around 18:00 limping and crying. His paw was swollen, he was exhausted and scared, and we could clearly see the bite on his front paw. After calling multiple vets who were sadly overwhelmed with snake-bite cases, eventually we finally found one a two hour drive away. By 22:30 they checked him and he received pain relief and was advised to rest.
The morphine he got made him a bit wobbly and restless, so we kept him indoors to recover calmly. Amazingly, after just one day of rest, his paws were almost back to normal and he’s already walking and jumping like nothing happened!

You can read the symptoms, treatment and costs in the next slides. But of course it is no medical advice for all cats, it depends on the place of the bite, age, and health of the cat.

The 25th of September @jojo_mamosu turned 31! His mom and brother were here to celebrate 🥳. They also helped us with painting and fixing the cornices of our house. Thank you guys for all the great memories! Hopefully next time we have finished the renovation so we are less tired 😅.

Since wood 🪵 is abundant here and winters are freezing, we bought some.

Our task list included: clearing the shed, moving 7m³ of wood from the driveway, and stacking it all up nicely.

Feels good to have a back-up with a possible power outage! 😇

From a tiny window, to a large hole in your wall,

From a tiny window, to a large hole in your wall, to a new "old" window 😎. Most of the construction companies were closed in july and august, so a new window couldn't be delivered until the end of September. We couldn't wait for that of course!

So luckily, @xmarykee found a suitable window at a Loppis (second hand) store nearby, and @jojo_mamosu was able to expertly install it.

Right next to our house stood a large maple tree,

Right next to our house stood a large maple tree, and we'd already sawed off a few large branches that were hanging over the roof during the roof renovation. To prevent the tree from falling onto our beautiful new roof in the future, it had to be cut down completely.

⚠️ This is quite a tricky job, as it can go wrong if it falls the wrong way. But with a little help from some ropes, it all worked out!
Although part of it did fall onto our vegetable garden... Luckily, the damage wasn't too bad 😇

@joep.ernst, a former colleague of @xmarykee, stopped by during his holiday in Sweden! He helped us plant tomatoes by removing some large rocks from our garden 🍅.
He taught us about a few plants: clover sorrel has a slightly salty taste, and tansy is insect repellent. He also has a knack for finding mushrooms!

🥾 We did a beautiful hike in Eksjö #skurugata , highly recommended, but not an easy one with lots of large rocks to navigate.

And he made a handy walking stick with my new tool: a drawknife!

Last weekend, we had family coming over to celebra

Last weekend, we had family coming over to celebrate @xmarykee birthday! 🥳 This time, no chores, just relaxing and having fun.

Unfortunately we had one day with rain, so we went to Vimmerby for some shopping. Little did we know, all shops close at 15:00 on a saturday...

And @xmarykee baked a real Smålands ostkaka (cheesecake), see the last picture 🍰

In the Netherlands @xmarykee started baking sourdough bread 🍞. She did this once a week, but now in Sweden she's got the hang of it! It's also a bit necessary with no (good) organic bakery around the corner and less money to spend because of the renovation of our house 😇.

Doesn't this look like art!? Or do we only think that because we made it ourselves? 😅

Happy with our new garden tool from @the_bearandwo

Happy with our new garden tool from @the_bearandwolf! Now, we can start with shredding our pruning waste to make beautiful wooden paths for our vegetable garden ❤️.
We also took over their poly tunnel & watering system to grow veggies in spring and late summer!

We will share pictures of this big boy when we have installed it. Maybe we start with it next growing season, when we are hopefully done with the most important renovations of our house.

Our lovely neighbours from the Netherlands came ov

Our lovely neighbours from the Netherlands came over for a weekend to help with our house! 🇳🇱

Together we installed the roofing foil and battens, lugged roof tiles and installed two air conditioners/heaters. We also went for a few walks in the area, had a nice barbecue and drank the best Dutch beers 🍻 (made by @cobusbier).

Thanks for your help & lovely presence 🤗

Finally we can wash our clothing!

The boiler room under our stairs was equipped with an old and faulty boiler. Also the copper pipes had been frozen in the past, and as you can see that caused quite some water damage.

We removed all the damaged wood and replaced it with fresh timber.

Some waterproof flooring, sewage & copper piping, and we now have a new (big😏)boiler, and our washing machine is finally up and running :)

No more handwashing!
